Music industry and events veteran George Bell
Since falling in love with music as a child, George Bell has turned his passion into a career in the industry. He spent six years as the director of Small is Beautiful festival, and three years managing The Nest Collective, running events at some of the biggest venues and festivals around the country such as Southbank Centre and Glastonbury. During this time George also managed the Song Collectors’ Collective, recording and documenting Gypsy and Traveller folk songs predominantly around southern Ireland. More recently, as artistic director of The Music Halls Project, George has been working to repurpose stunning historic buildings in north London to stage world-class concerts across folk, jazz, and world genres.

George’s current major project combats issues of low wellbeing and mental health among employees at companies in the City of London, through teaching them accessible choral arrangements from Beethoven to Beyoncé. He’s uniquely positioned in the industry to share his musical passions in an area dazzlingly rich in musical and cultural heritage on his music and history tour of Camden.

“Places are nothing without the characters who give it colour,” George says. “SideStory appeals because it allows people behind the scenes of a city, to draw back the curtain on a particular area or industry.”
