Her perfect day: The ultimate guide to Mother’s Day
Falling on Sunday, March 11th this year, Mother’s Day is a great excuse to go out of your way to do something special for your mum, mother, mom or mummy.
You could take her to a hot new art exhibition, treat her to a homemade brunch, or show London off from one of the finest viewpoints in the city. Alternatively, for an indulgent and hassle-free day, we’ve prepared you an itinerary for the ultimate Mothering Sunday in London.
8.00 am – Wake up! Flowers, chocolate, and cards are never unappreciated. Neither is a lie-in.
9.00 am – Head to breakfast at The Wolseley. This traditional dining room is an iconic London institution and a prime location for spotting celebrities hiding behind menus. Don’t miss: the signature fishcake with poached egg.
10.30 am – Sated from breakfast, hop in a cab to Knightsbridge, where you’ll meet SideStory Insider Boo Attwood. In the comfort of the Harvey Nichols image consulting suite, Boo will introduce you to pieces she has pre-selected in light of your shape, style, and interests. With Boo’s assistance, learn why different colours, cuts, textures and shapes suit you.
Enjoy shopping in London’s finest boutiques and department stores on a one-off small group Experience with Insider Boo. 1.30 pm – After a quick lunch, head down to the Tate Britain for the Impressionists in London Exhibition. Alternatively, if Monet’s not your taste, Insider Joshua White will give you a private tour of London’s contemporary art galleries. If you feel you don’t ‘get’ art these days, Joshua, an art critic and lecturer, can guide you to the history and creative processes of the artists on show in London. And, if you still don’t understand, at least he’ll give you some soundbites to impress your friends.
We’re off to the Hockney at the Tate this weekend, for a sneaky second look. Have you been? 4.30 pm – What better way to rest your feet than with an afternoon tea? Our choice is the whimsical tea at Sketch. Don’t miss: the ladies’ loos. If you know, you know.

Over cocktails, Chris – who lives, sleeps, eats and breathes gin and the London drinks industry – will give tips as to London’s hottest destinations for a tipple, as well as share stories from his life and work in the industry.
