Katie Treggiden is a design writer, speaker, and editor with over 15 years of experience in the creative industries. Travelling to an average of ten international design shows every year means she meets the newest designers and discovers design trends as they break. Her keen eye, rich knowledge and eloquent writing make her a regular contributor to publications such as the Guardian, Elle Decoration, Crafts Magazine, Monocle24 and Design Milk.
Katie has written three books, exploring her interest for designers, makers and craftspeople: Interviews (2011), Makers of East London (2015) and Urban Potters (2017). She also wrote the foreword to Residents: Inside the Iconic Barbican Estate (2016) indulging her passion for Modernist architecture. She was the founding editor of the award-winning blog confessions of a design geek (2010 – 2017) and Fiera (2014 – 2017), a magazine dedicated to discovering new talent at the world's design fairs, which was also nominated for multiple awards.
As an industry expert, she was part of panels nominating designers for the 2017-19 designer-in-residence at the PCA Gallery, the 2017 V&A Jameel Prize, and the 2016 Arts Foundation Fellowship in Furniture Design. Katie has also contributed to product design research for leading brands such as Samsung and Panasonic and engages in public speaking in the UK and around the world. When she is not working as a design journalist, she is currently studying part-time for a Masters in the History of Design at Oxford University.
“Katie introduces us to some wonderful designers – we could never have dreamt of working with the sort of emerging talent she commissions and curates for us. Her endless enthusiasm and inspirational ideas help us to deliver really outstanding campaigns.”
