Inua Ellams is a poet, playwright and performer. He has given readings and performances at the Royal Festival Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Ronnie Scott’s and the Tate Modern, to name but a few. He was the first ever Poet-in-Residence in Covent Garden back in 2010, as part of an event to celebrate the building’s 180th anniversary and in 2012, was commissioned by the Houses of Parliament to crowd-source and write a poem about political representation and engagement.
His immersive approach to creation and his poetry performances have garnered significant demand for his workshops and writing and led to projects with venerable institutions such as the BBC, the British Museum, the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company where he is currently under commission.
A SideStory Experience with Inua offers a new way of looking at the city, taking it all in from a multi-sensory perspective. Rather than simply viewing and passing, Inua will guide you as you write, helping sculpt transformative, creative text that will capture experiences and last for time to come.Explore: #SideStoryInua
"Ellams has an easy, laid-back charisma and pares poetic flair for narrative with admirable restraint. The wordsmith remains present, though, and his sentences, with their sophisticated flavour and texture combinations, can be something of a Michelin-starred mouthful."
